During cancer care, your mother may sit for hours with little energy to spare. The best chairs let her lean back to rest and ride to appointments without extra transfers.

Broda Synthesis Positioning Wheelchair with Tilt & Recline (V4)
What matters in a chair during cancer care
Comfort through long, tiring days
Cancer and the care that comes with it can bring pain, weight loss and deep fatigue. Weight loss matters for seating, because bony spots like the tailbone and hips have less padding over them. Broda's Comfort Tension Seating uses a series of tensioned straps in place of one sagging sling, and Broda designs it to spread weight over more of the body and let air move through.
Rest in the living room
Your mother may want to be with the family but tire quickly. A chair that tilts and reclines lets her lean back for a nap in the living room, then sit up for dinner, with no trip to the bedroom. With tilt-in-space, seat and back rock backward together, so she is less likely to slide forward as she leans back.
Getting to appointments
Infusions, scans and checkups add up to a lot of trips. Moving from wheelchair to car seat and back takes strength she may not have that day. Broda offers a crash-tested WC19 transport option on chairs such as the Synthesis, which lets her stay seated in her own chair inside a wheelchair-accessible van. An IV pole or oxygen tank holder can be added too.

Broda Synthesis Positioning Wheelchair with Tilt & Recline (V4)
From $4,506.40MSRP
A good match for days spent mostly sitting. Broda gives the Synthesis a seat that tilts to 40 degrees and a backrest that reclines fully for real rest, and it can be ordered with WC19 transport brackets for appointment days.
Broda Midline Positioning Tilt & Recline Wheelchair (MID)
From $3,620.58MSRP
A close cousin of the Synthesis. The seat tilts to 38 degrees and the back reclines to 90. Seat heights from 17 to 22 inches can be set to line up with her bed for sideways transfers.
Broda Encore Pedal Wheelchair with Tilt & Rocking (48RV4)
From $3,194.94MSRP
For someone who still has energy on good days. The Encore sits low so her feet reach the floor and she can move short distances herself, and it tilts back for a break when she tires.
Broda Revive Shower Commode with Tilt & Recline (CS385)
From $3,878.62MSRP
Bathing takes energy she may not have. The Revive lets a caregiver tilt her back and recline the backrest as far as 67 degrees for hair washing, while a full leg rest holds her legs.
Her oncology nurse or doctor can refer her to a therapist (physical or occupational) or to an ATP, short for assistive technology professional. They can measure her and look at how many hours she sits each day. Weight can shift during cancer care, so ask for seat width to be rechecked if she loses or gains weight. Ports, drains and swelling may also change where supports and belts should sit. If she lives in Arizona, ADL's own crew can deliver the chair and fit it in person.
Call or send a quote request. Tell us the person's height, weight and diagnosis, and where the chair will be used.
Confirm the model with their therapist or ATP. We send a written quote that lists the exact model, size and options.
We order direct from Broda. The chair ships to any US address. In Arizona, our own crew can deliver it, set it up and fit it.
Paying for the chair
Many families pay privately. Insurance or a public program may help when a doctor, therapist or ATP documents why the person needs the chair. Whether it is covered depends on the plan. Our written quote lists the exact model and options, so it can go straight into that paperwork. Facilities, care organizations and multi-unit buyers can ask us about partner pricing.
Questions families ask about cancer
Should someone with cancer use a wheelchair if they can still walk?
Many people use one part time. Walking short distances at home and riding in a chair through long hospital hallways or outings can save energy for the things she cares about. Her care team can say how much activity is right. A chair that tilts and reclines also gives her somewhere to rest that is not the bed.
What wheelchair accessories help during chemotherapy?
Broda offers add-ons such as an IV pole, a tray and an oxygen tank holder, which can make infusion days and home care easier to manage. Ask ADL which accessories fit the model you choose before ordering, so the chair arrives ready for the way she lives.
Can my mom stay in her wheelchair in a van on the way to appointments?
Yes, if the chair has a crash-tested WC19 transport package and the van is wheelchair accessible with proper tie-downs. The Synthesis offers that option. Without it, she would need to move to a vehicle seat. Ask the transport company what they require before the first ride.
This guide is general product information, not medical advice. Chair features are described as Broda designs them. Choose seating together with the person's doctor, therapist or ATP.
Call with the person's diagnosis, height and weight, and where they will sit most of the day. We will tell you which Broda chairs fit and send a written quote.
